Downtown Largo Now Runs on a Weekly Schedule, and It Keeps Going Through Holiday Lights

October 29, 2026

Downtown Largo has a regular week now, and most of it happens at one address. Since mid-October, the City of Largo has held free events at the Horizon West Bay plaza at 440 West Bay Drive. Food trucks come at lunch on Thursdays, live music runs Friday nights, and a wellness hour is held once a month. Weekend markets fill in around those. On October 7, the City put up signs for a sip-and-stroll zone, so a few blocks of West Bay Drive now work as one connected evening.

Then, on November 26, Holiday Lights opens at Largo Central Park. The Thursday lunches and Friday concerts at the plaza have acts posted into mid-December, so they keep running after the lights come on. The two downtown Saturday markets stop instead, since both skip December. That makes November 28 the only Saturday this season with both a downtown market and Holiday Lights.

Thursdays and Fridays Belong to the Plaza

The weekly schedule has two fixed slots. Food Trucks @ Largo Lunch Rush runs Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a rotating lineup of local trucks. Largo Live brings free music to the plaza on Fridays from 7 to 11 p.m. The City suggests bringing a blanket or chair, and leashed pets are welcome. A third, smaller slot is Health on the Horizon, a free noon talk led by HCA Largo on the first Wednesday of each month.

Some food vendors work both slots. The Barbacoa Boyz play a Friday night and then a Thursday lunch a week later, and so does Casablanca Fusion. If a Friday dinner wins you over, you can find the same vendor at lunch the following Thursday. Here are the November dates the City has posted for Largo Live and Largo Lunch Rush:

  • Thursday, Nov. 5, Lunch Rush: Gigglewaters
  • Friday, Nov. 6, Largo Live: Tom Hood & The Tropical Sons, with The Barbacoa Boyz
  • Thursday, Nov. 12, Lunch Rush: The Barbacoa Boyz
  • Friday, Nov. 13, Largo Live: The StraightUp Blues Band, with Casablanca Fusion
  • Thursday, Nov. 19, Lunch Rush: Casablanca Fusion
  • Friday, Nov. 20, Largo Live: Clearwater Jazz Holiday Young Lions Jazz Jam with the Alex Mikovich Trio, plus 313 Tacos and Tamales

The downtown calendar still shows Lunch Rush on Thanksgiving Day and Largo Live on Nov. 27, but the City's event pages name no truck or performer for either date. Check DowntownLargo.com before you plan around that week.

The Rules That Let West Bay Drive Work as One Evening

Largo Live and the dinner spots nearby feel like one outing because of the Downtown Largo Entertainment District. Adults 21 and older can now walk around with a drink bought from a registered establishment. The broader district runs between Clearwater-Largo Road and Alternate U.S. 19, from First Avenue Northwest to First Avenue Southwest. The open-alcohol zone inside it is smaller. It runs between Sixth Street Southwest and First Street Southwest, across the same avenues.

The City's FAQ for the district sets out the details:

Rule What the City's FAQ says
Hours, Sunday to Wednesday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Hours, Thursday to Saturday and legal holidays 8 a.m. to midnight
City events May get extended hours
Cup Clear, shatterproof, compostable or recyclable plastic, 16 ounces or less, with the participating business's logo
Limit No more than two open drinks per person at a time
Where drinks can go Public streets, sidewalks and alleys inside the zone
Where they can't Parking lots, garages, vehicles, and anywhere outside the zone

Two details matter on a Friday. Largo Live ends at 11 p.m., and on Fridays open-container hours run until midnight, so there is an hour after the music to walk to a late dinner. Also, the free event parking at Horizon is in a garage, and the City's FAQ lists garages among the places where open drinks are not allowed. This is general information, not legal advice, so check the City's FAQ or ask the City about the rules before you go.

Where the Evening Goes Before or After

The plaza's own tenants came first. The Tampa Bay Beacons reported that Parlor Doughnuts opened at Horizon West Bay on May 23 and Strachan's Ice Cream followed on June 10. They were the building's first two retail and restaurant tenants. For a Friday with kids, Strachan's after a Largo Live set is the easy choice.

East Bay Drive has picked up its own new places. The Tampa Bay Times covered the grand opening of Bogey's Tavern, a golf-themed, Prohibition-era tavern at 300 E. Bay Drive, in August. Farther east, the Times reported in September that Graze Craze opened at 2480 E. Bay Drive, Suite 31, in East Bay Junction. It sells charcuterie boards and boxes and does catering. A box from there works well for a blanket at Largo Live or for the holiday crowd at Central Park.

For mornings, a Tampa Bay Times report carried on Yahoo News covered the Aug. 1 ribbon-cutting when Belleair Coffee Co. opened its second location at 1158 Seventh St. SW, in the former Olde Florida Brewing Co. space. It serves local beer and seltzers along with the roaster's coffee.

The plaza has more coming, though not this season. On August 18, the City Commission approved leases at Horizon West Bay for Bocelli Modern Italian and Dead Bob's Bar & Restaurant. The City expects both to start construction and open in 2027. Bocelli is planned at more than 6,400 square feet, with an open kitchen, private dining and a full liquor bar. Dead Bob's will be the sports bar's fourth location and its first in Largo.

The Weekends Fill In Around the Plaza

Weekends follow a monthly rhythm, and two of the three markets are at Horizon. Farmer's Market on the Plaza runs the first Sunday of each month, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from October through April. Largo Day Market runs the third Saturday, also 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Largo Evening Market runs the fourth Saturday, 5 to 9 p.m., a block away at Ulmer Park. 4th Street NW closes for the Horizon markets. Free event parking is in the Horizon garage, entered from 1st Avenue NW.

Here is how November looks with everything on one calendar:

Date Event Where Time
Sun., Nov. 1 Farmer's Market on the Plaza Horizon West Bay, 440 West Bay Dr. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fri., Nov. 6 to Sun., Nov. 15 Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella Central Park Performing Arts Center Evenings and matinees
Sat., Nov. 14 Sip, Shop & Stroll Night Market Horizon West Bay Starts 5 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 21 Largo Day Market Horizon West Bay 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thu., Nov. 26 Holiday Lights opens Largo Central Park 5 to 10 p.m. nightly
Fri., Nov. 27 to Sun., Nov. 29 The Sunkicks: Home for the Holidays Central Park Performing Arts Center Evenings and matinees
Sat., Nov. 28 Largo Evening Market Ulmer Park, 301 West Bay Dr. 5 to 9 p.m.

Cinderella has 8 p.m. shows on Nov. 6, 12 and 13, and 2 p.m. matinees on Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15. A matinee leaves the evening open for Sip, Shop & Stroll on the 14th.

Thanksgiving Weekend Moves the Center to Central Park

Holiday Lights runs nightly from 5 to 10 p.m. The City describes more than 2.5 million LED lights, along with food, drink and market vendors and paid rides. Walking in is free. Rides cost $6 each or 10 for $50. The City's Holiday Lights event page lists the season through January 3, 2027. Another City events listing shows December 27, so check the City's page before you plan a visit late in the season. Mistletoe Market vendors will be at the park every weekend while the lights are up.

Saturday, November 28 is the night both halves of town are running. Largo Evening Market sets up at Ulmer Park from 5 to 9 p.m., and it is the last Evening Market until January. Holiday Lights is in its third night at Central Park. The Sunkicks: Home for the Holidays plays Central Park Performing Arts Center at 2 and 8 p.m. that day, with more shows on Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. One way to do it is the 2 p.m. show, then the Evening Market at dusk, then the lights before they shut off at 10.

December Splits Between the Plaza and Central Park

The Day and Evening Markets break for December. The Farmer's Market on the Plaza still runs on Sunday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Horizon. The weekly plaza schedule keeps going too, which means a Thursday lunch or Friday concert downtown can come before an evening at the lights:

  • Thursday, Dec. 3, Lunch Rush: Lithuanian Food and More
  • Friday, Dec. 4, Largo Live: Carl Motyka, with 355 Coffee
  • Thursday, Dec. 10, Lunch Rush: Gigglewaters
  • Friday, Dec. 11, Largo Live: Cienna Wesley, with The Barbacoa Boyz
  • Thursday, Dec. 17, Lunch Rush: The Barbacoa Boyz
  • Friday, Dec. 18, Largo Live: The Paul Anthony Band, with 313 Tacos and Tamales

The bigger December events are at Central Park:

  • Saturday, Dec. 5: Holiday Tree Lighting & Stroll at Largo Central Park, 5 to 10 p.m. Admission is free. On-site parking is $10, credit card only, and the City has not posted the evening's full schedule yet.
  • Saturday, Dec. 12: A Big Band Christmas with the Ten O'Clock Band at Central Park Performing Arts Center, 2 p.m.
  • Dec. 19 and 20: The Nutcracker at Central Park Performing Arts Center, at 2 and 6:30 p.m. on the 19th and 2 p.m. on the 20th.

The Big Band matinee falls on a Saturday when the lights open at 5. Stay in the area after the show and you can walk the park once it lights up.
